A PERFORMANCE CENTER BUILT TO MATCH A CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAM

SALISBURY UNIVERSITY (MD) ATHLETICS

A donor set out to ensure Salisbury student-athletes trained in a space that reflected the program’s sustained success at the Division III level.

The Huffman Performance Center overhaul paired new construction with a complete environmental branding system—designed to honor championship history while pushing the next generation forward.

A fully reconstructed weight room—new lighting, equipment, and flooring—wasn’t complete without environmental branding to match.

A student-athlete mural featuring Sea Gulls across every program anchors the corridor leading to the coaches’ offices. At the entry, Maryland pride elements and program branding set the tone immediately.

Inside the foyer, the story continues. A multi-surface mural highlights Salisbury’s championship tradition, centered around “Sammy” the Sea Gull layered over the state flag, city map, and university marks—tied together in bold scarlet and gold.

On the exterior, stud-mounted acrylic lettering was installed to honor the Huffman family, recognizing the impact behind the facility’s transformation.

“First class all the way. From the design phase to the install phase, SI Design absolutely knocked it out of the park. They took our ideas and found ways to incorporate them into their ideas and put forth a product that we couldn’t imagine.”
